"Seussical" the musical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Now that's a mouthful - but it's what we'd expect from Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss is a part of our childhood. Who doesn't remember "Green Eggs and Ham", "Horton Hears a Who", "Yertle the Turtle" and "One Fish Two Fish"? Fond du Lac Community Theatre's summer production of "Seussical" lovingly brings to life all our favorite characters in a show that practically leaps off the stage in a burst of color and song.

The story centers around Horton the Elephant (Ron Jacobson) who is trying to protect the little people of Whoville and guard an abandoned egg left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird (Theresa Goebel). Along the way, Gertrude McFuzz (Stacy Hambrick) tries to express her love for Horton - but he doesn't seem to notice her. The narrator to the story is The Cat in the Hat (Lyle Goebel) who offers plenty of laughs throughout the show. Other cast members include Tanner Zocher, Katherine Gilliland, Jeff Smith, Angela Otte, Meagan Haupt and Jeff Krcmar.

The songs do most of the storytelling which weave together several Seuss tales and the score is a Seussian mix of musical styles ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel, and salsa to funk. The opening number "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think" captures the show's spirit of imagination as the characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of Whoville.

"Seussical" is being co-directed by Bekki Fishelson and Cheryl DuBrava - no strangers to community theatre or directing. These ladies have a great cast put together and are excited
to share the show with the community. As with any big musical production, FDL Community Theatre engages a large number of volunteers and on any given day you can find people
sewing costumes, painting sets, rehearsing musical numbers, and gathering props - all in preparation for the big opening night. Other members of the production team include: Claudia
Winland (Properties), Mary Runde (Stage Manager), Janice Westphal (Rehearsal Accompanist) and Sandy Dvorak (Conductor).
